Retired Military Leaders Slam Walz for Lying About Rank

Four veterans leaders blasted Democratic presidential candidate Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) in interviews, saying he exaggerated his military record to avoid serving in Iraq. The Megyn Kelly Show It aired on Monday.

Minnesota National Guard Command Sergeant Major Paul Hare (retired) called Waltz a “habitual liar.”

“He's a habitual liar. He lies about everything! He lies about things that don't even make sense,” Herr said.

For nearly two decades, Waltz claimed to be a “retired master sergeant,” when in fact he was just one rank lower, a “retired sergeant major.”

Harr, who appeared in court with three other retired senior officers from the Minnesota National Guard, said Walz lied about other things as well.

“He says stuff like, 'I was a football coach,' and you were an assistant coach and you got fired for a DUI. You tried to get out of that by lying about being deaf,” he said.

Walz also lied about carrying a weapon “in a war” even though he has never deployed to a combat zone. The Harris-Walz campaign claimed he “misspoke,” and Walz himself later blamed it on grammar and heated speech in a recent CNN interview.

Waltz also lied about conceiving both of his children through in vitro fertilization, when his wife had used intrauterine insemination instead.

“So it's just a series of habitual lies that add up and eventually you can't offer enough cover to cover up,” Herr said.
