Review of fundraiser for student reportedly connected to antisemitic sign incident.

The fundraising campaign on GivesEndgo has successfully raised over $15,000 aimed at supporting Temple University students in a legal dispute with Barstool Sports founder, Dave Portnoy. Student Mo Khan has found himself at the center of this national conversation after Portnoy accused him of sharing a video on Instagram and indicating that a waitress at Barstool Sansom Street Bar displayed a sign that stated, “F— The Jews.”

Initially, Portnoy suggested sending students to Auschwitz to learn about the Holocaust, depending on how involved he was in the incident, but Khan turned that offer down. Instead, the 21-year-old is focusing on fundraising for legal defenses through GivesEndgo.

Following Portnoy’s challenges, the video Khan shared has received a community note on X, raising questions about the validity of his explanations regarding the incident. Jacob Wells, a co-founder of GivesEndgo, told Fox News Digital that they will evaluate how effective the campaign is.

Wells mentioned, “We want to ensure the campaign is as accurate as possible. We have a verification team that takes conflict reports seriously.” He admitted that he wasn’t aware of the community notes associated with the Portnoy situation prior to this conversation.

He also noted that while they strive to validate facts, it’s not their sole responsibility to establish every detail impeccably. If Khan misrepresents the events tied to his fundraising efforts, that could warrant the campaign’s removal, he explained. “There are many variables, and it’s tough to make assumptions,” Wells remarked. “But if clear examples of falsehoods arise in the campaign’s narrative, that would definitely be ground for reconsideration.”

Khan has stated in his video that he wasn’t involved in bringing the autograph to the bar but merely “reported” on it, also expressing his anti-Israel sentiments regarding the rumors surrounding the incident.

In response, Portnoy reposted Khan’s video, labeling him a liar. “This guy is a flat liar. I told him on the phone with his buddy, and they both acknowledged it. Then he sought legal advice after talking with his family,” Portnoy wrote on X.

Khan countered Portnoy’s claims and questioned the characterization of their phone conversation. Community notes on Khan’s post highlighted Portnoy’s response, which included the accusation of Khan being a “liar.” A newer note pointed out additional factors about Khan’s history, mentioning past incidents at Temple University, including throwing quarters at Jewish students, although details about his alleged anti-Semitic behavior were not included in that article.

Temple University President John Fry expressed disapproval regarding Khan’s interview with media figures known for promoting anti-Semitic content. He stated, “The content of this interview was horrifying, deeply offensive. We do not tolerate anti-Semitism at the Temple.”

As part of the ongoing investigation, Temple has confirmed that two students have been suspended, with Khan acknowledging his suspension. However, he has not faced any criminal charges yet, as Philadelphia police continue to gather information about the incident.
