Cadillac and Audi Set to Rev Up in Formula One
As the 2026 Formula One season unfolds, Cadillac’s entry brings the total number of teams to 11. Interestingly, Audi is also poised to embark on its own Formula 1 journey, taking over Sauber as part of their new initiative.
On Wednesday, Audi made an announcement regarding their new title sponsor:
The German automaker revealed that Revolut, a prominent fintech company with over 60 million users, will serve as the title partner for the upcoming 2026 season. The partnership aims to innovate fan interactions during racing weekends, promising unique experiences for a fresh wave of motorsport fans and exclusive perks for Revolut customers.
Additionally, Revolut will be more deeply integrated into the team’s financial aspects.
Gernot Döllner, CEO of Audi AG and of Sauber Motorsports AG, commented, “Audi’s entry into Formula 1 is driven by a clear goal: to leverage the platform for a technically relevant and economically sustainable investment that benefits the Audi brand.”
“We truly believe in our projects, which are approached with a realistic mindset aiming for ongoing improvement. Moreover, we’ve discovered a partner who aligns with our ambitions. Formula 1 is a worldwide stage that opens doors to new demographics and boosts excitement for our offerings,” he added.
Current and future team principal of the Audi F1 team, Jonathan Wheatley, referred to the partnership as a “strategic alliance” in motorsport.
“With Revolut, we’ve aligned with partners who embody the essence of innovation and relentless ambition,” Wheatley said. “This goes beyond a simple brand association. It’s a strategic partnership intended to shake up conventional motorsport practices. Starting in 2026, Revolut’s digital-first solutions will transform how fans and communities connect with teams, while also enhancing critical operational areas.”
Currently, Sauber holds the 6th position in the F1 Constructor Championship with 43 points, aiming for their best season since 2022 when they finished sixth with 55 points. Driver Nico Hulkenberg has recently achieved the team’s first podium since Kamui Kobayashi’s third-place finish at the 2012 Japan Grand Prix, marking Hulkenberg’s first podium in his 239th race.
