Rex Ryan, Damien Woody unload on Micah Parsons after comments about Cowboys head coach: ‘Total BS’

Dallas Cowboys star edge rusher Micah Parsons didn't hesitate to speak his mind about the coaching staff after Sunday's 34-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Former NFL coach Rex Ryan and former offensive lineman Damian Woody also didn't mince words about Parsons after hearing what he said about head coach Mike McCarthy and the rest of Dallas' staff. .

Parsons was first asked about McCarthy, who is in the final year of his contract, and his future with the Cowboys, who are currently 3-6. Although Parsons said they were “above my pay grade,” he did make some interesting comments about the staff.

“Coaching aside, Mike can leave the team and go wherever he wants. I feel a little bit sorry for guys like Zach Martin and guys who might retire in their final year. Because that's who I wanted to hold the trophy for. “

“You want to win games and you want to accomplish great things with these legends who have put in more time and effort than Mike McCarthy has ever done. These are the kind of players that I feel very sorry for and hurt.”

Ryan encouraged Parsons on ESPN's “Get Up” Monday morning after hearing his opinion on the head coach.

“That's a complete no-no,” he said. “Coaches work 20 hours a day, at least two or three days a week, depending on the day. The hours they put in are unparalleled. Mike McCarthy, he doesn't deserve these awful comments. “He doesn't have that, no.'' There are some terrible coaches, but none of them deserve the kind of work they put into coaching.

“You're going to give up time with your family, you're going to give up all sorts of things in your life, and you're going to be terrible as a result. I don't care how talented he is, that's a complete no-no.”

Woody took it a step further, referencing Bleacher Report's show The Edge with Micah Parsons, saying Parsons falls into a category he calls a “podcast boy.”

Woody said. “Brother, you've been missing all these games with injuries, and the last time I checked, the head coach was a Super Bowl-winning coach and the season was going the way everyone expected. I know it's not, and that's all there is to it. But to sit in the locker room right after the team gets beaten and take off coaching like that, that's all that's said in the locker room here. Look at what's happening with the podcast boys who want to do this.''

Ryan further attacked Parsons, pointing out that he lost time due to an injury midway through.

“If you worked half as hard as that damn coach, you could probably play every game,” Ryan said. “Maybe your team will just be a bunch of bad guys and not crush you every week like you do. How about being a shitty football team? Are you gonna sell out your shitty coach? You're shitty.” What do you know? ”

The Cowboys have lost four straight, but this was the first time they didn't have Dak Prescott leading the way at quarterback. Prescott reportedly has a serious hamstring injury that will require surgery to repair and is not expected to return this season.
