WFAN host Greg Gianotti believes a potential Robert F. Kennedy Jr. vs. Aaron Rodgers ticket is just an attention grabber and will never materialize.
“I think it’s clear what’s going on, but first of all, he’s not going to be vice president. One, because I can’t beat him, and two, because he’s Robert F. “I don’t think I’m going to campaign with Kennedy Jr.,” Gianotti said. He spoke on Wednesday’s “Boomer & Geo.”.
“I think this means that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Aaron Rodgers want to get Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s message out there now more than ever. [Donald] Trump, a lot [President Joe] Biden, a lot of Democrats, a lot of Republicans, and they probably know they can’t win. …but they hope to change some people’s minds in the process. ”
Rodgers, 40, has certainly appeared in his fair share of strange headlines during his time with the Jets, namely his feud with Jimmy Kimmel, but this latest report may get some attention.
President Kennedy told the New York Times that Rodgers and former Minnesota governor and wrestling icon Jesse “The Body” Ventura were his top running mate candidates, and that both were open to the idea. “We welcome you,” he said. A campaign official confirmed Kennedy’s comments to the Post.
For most players, such an idea would be ridiculous.
But Rodgers is no ordinary football player.
But Giannotti doesn’t think this could actually be a serious option.
“This is today’s story and will continue to be, but you’re not going to see Aaron Rodgers on the campaign trail. You’re not going to see him in a situation where he’s arguing with people. That’s not going to happen. “I guess so,” Gianotti said. “This is a grand plan to draw attention to RFK Jr.’s campaign, and I think it’s working, but if Aaron Rodgers was asked about this, he’d say, ‘Oh, obviously I want to say that. We’re friends and we’ve talked about this and it’s something I would have done at a different time in my life, but obviously I have a commitment to the Jets, but I don’t want people to know. wants you to understand his message and think about what he is saying. ” Then it will go away. ”
He added: Is he going to win? Is he going to steal enough votes from either Trump or Biden to make a difference with this? Probably not. But today, RFK Jr.’s campaign is getting more attention than ever, and that’s partly because everyone is talking about Aaron Rodgers. ”
Co-host Jerry Leco joked that the latest report was “very Aaron Rodgers” in 2024, and Gianotti said some Jets fans were upset about off-field headlines about the quarterback. He pointed out that some people may have done so.
“It’s with (Rodgers’ brand). A lot of people felt the same way, a lot of fans felt the same way. They got fed up with everything about Aaron Rodgers other than Aaron Rodgers throwing the football. I totally understand because we’re in a period where we’re in the middle of a long period of time, and I understand that,” Gianotti said. “They never really saw him play in a Jets uniform, and they don’t have good memories of Aaron Rodgers in a Jets uniform. headlined on Pat McAfee’s show and provided a distraction from last year’s disastrous season, so this is one of them.”
Leko joked how Jets coach Robert Saleh must have taken the news.
“(Rodgers) got hurt a few plays last year, and now we have to hope that (Saleh) quarterback doesn’t leave to rule the country,” Recco said.
