RFK Jr. accuses Trump, Biden and CNN of colluding to prevent him from upcoming debate

In a letter on Tuesday, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. accused former President Trump and President Biden of conspiring with CNN to violate the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA).

“Based on the available evidence, the violations occurred when CNN conspired with the Biden Committee and the Trump Committee to schedule, and did schedule, the debate with criteria designed to select certain pre-selected participants, namely Biden and Trump,” the letter filed by attorney Lorenzo Holloway alleges.

The letter said the alleged collusion between Biden, Trump and CNN places each party in “clear violation of federal campaign finance law.”

Trump and Biden agreed in May to debate, to be hosted by CNN on June 27. The second debate, scheduled for Sept. 10, will be hosted by ABC.

Kennedy also spoke directly about lawsuits against political opponents on the campaign trail. press release.

“CNN’s debates require our campaigns to meet different standards of debate participation than Biden and President Trump, violate Federal Election Commission law, and make prohibited large corporate contributions to both the Biden and Trump campaigns,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy’s letter alleges that CNN has “acknowledged” that it had “informal discussions” with the Biden and Trump campaigns about the presidential debate, and claims that this is evidence of collusion between the network and the two leading presidential candidates.

Because neither Biden nor Trump have been formally nominated by their respective parties, “neither President Biden nor President Trump will appear on any state ballot as their respective party’s presidential candidate,” Kennedy argues.

“Nevertheless, CNN publicly approved both candidates to participate in the debate, and then informed Kennedy that he would not be able to participate in the debate because he did not meet this criteria,” the letter continues.

In a statement, CNN told Fox News Digital that RFK Jr. “does not currently meet the polling threshold” needed for a debate invitation.

“Virtually every state’s laws provide that candidates representing state-certified parties are eligible to appear on the ballot without a petition,” a CNN spokesperson said in a statement.

“Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump, as the presumptive nominees of their respective parties, would meet this requirement. As an independent candidate, Mr. RFK Jr. does not meet the requirement under applicable law,” the statement read. “Merely requesting to appear on the ballot does not guarantee that you will appear on the ballot in any state.”

Kennedy still has time to qualify for the debate, which he has until one week before the debate on June 27th.
