Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has called New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers “testing” and “critical” amid speculation about who his running mate will be in November. He admitted that he respects him as a “thinker.”
He praised Fox News’ Trace Gallagher on Wednesday night and hinted at the possibility of winning a Kennedy-Rogers ticket, though the latter has remained silent on the possibility.
“Aaron Rodgers has stood the test of time. He’s been beaten down by the press, but he’s stood up for what he believes in, and I like that part of his personality. He’s a critical thinker. And I think that’s what we needed at the time,” Kennedy said.
When Gallagher insisted, “It seems to me that Aaron Rodgers is your choice,” Kennedy wouldn’t say yes or no.

The scion of a prominent political family will officially announce his selection as vice presidential candidate on March 26, his campaign announced in a statement Wednesday.
The selection “will reaffirm the Kennedy campaign’s core principles of restoring the middle class, ending the epidemic of chronic disease, rolling back the war machine, and unraveling the corporate capture of government.”
Rodgers, 40, was the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers before joining the New York Jets for the 2023 season. He ruptured his left Achilles tendon in the first match and was sidelined, but has vowed to return in 2024.
Off the field, he has also been criticized for his anti-vaccine views and other controversial comments.
Kennedy recently posted a photo of them hiking together.
It’s unclear how he will be able to combine campaigning for vice president with the grueling NFL season that will clash with the November election.
Representatives for the New York Jets have not commented on Rodgers’ potential political run.
