RFK Jr. may have run for the Democratic nomination, but he realized where his party affiliation was headed and became an independent.
He is now facing off against Vice President Kamala Harris, who is expected to run to replace Biden when he steps down this Sunday.
“A little over a year ago when I entered this campaign I predicted that President Biden was suffering from a progressive illness with no prospect of improvement that would make it impossible for him to govern effectively,” RFK Jr. said of the events that unfolded over the weekend.
“The DNC’s response to this obvious situation was to hide it from the American people and use its power over the Democratic nominating process to ensure that no one could compete with President Biden in a way that would expose his shortcomings,” he continued.
“I think you all know Kamala Harris is the party of war. She’s a war hawk,” he charged. “Kamala Harris is a war hawk on Ukraine, she’s a war hawk on China. I think we should figure out how to coexist with the rest of the world as best we can.”
But it’s not just her war record that bothers RFK Jr.
“She won’t do anything about the national deficit. I’ve never heard her talk about the chronic disease epidemic,” he said. “I think she’s a product of corporate control over our democracy.”
“In terms of civil rights, she has the worst record of any public servant,” he added.
Despite disagreeing with RFK Jr. on some issues, Dave Rubin of The Rubin Report believes RFK Jr. would have made a much better Democratic candidate than Kamala.
“Imagine what would happen if the Democratic Party had gone in that direction instead of the direction it’s going in,” Rubin said. “If you’re a good, decent Democrat and you’re running for office, but you have Trump Derangement Syndrome and you can’t do that, here’s a candidate for you to vote for.”
“I think he’ll definitely get a lot more from Kamala or anyone else in the Democratic Party,” he added.
