RFK Jr. says Trump asked him to help pick 'people who will be running the government'

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said Monday that former President Trump has asked him to join his transition team if the Republican presidential nominee is re-elected.

“I have been asked to join the transition team and help select people to run the government, and I look forward to doing so,” Kennedy said in a lengthy speech. Interview With former Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

Kennedy on Friday ended his independent presidential bid in favor of Trump, saying his name would remain on the ballot in most Republican and Democratic states but would withdraw from battleground states where he could have an impact.

He accompanied Trump to a rally in Arizona over the weekend, where the Republican candidate welcomed him as an ally.

“I'm very pleased to have with me tonight an incredible man who has stood for many of the values ​​that we all share and have shared for a long time,” Trump said in introducing Kennedy at the time. “I think he's going to have a huge impact on this race.”

Kennedy challenged President Biden for the Democratic nomination before running as an independent at the end of the campaign.

When asked how he plans to spend his time with 70 days until Election Day, Kennedy told Carlson he would work to get Trump elected.

“I'm going to work hard to get him elected, and, you know, I'm working with the campaign,” he replied. “We're working together on policy issues.”

“And I'm going to fight,” Kennedy added. “If I lose, I don't know what's going to happen to me.”

The Hill/Decision Desk poll found that Vice President Harris leads President Trump by 4.1 percentage points, 49.7 percent to 45.6 percent. Even with Kennedy included, Harris still leads with 49 percent, well above the former president's 43.9 percent. The independent received just 2.8 percent of the vote, according to the poll.
