RFK Jr. Shares with Tucker Carlson That Marco Rubio Has Changed Dramatically

Rubio’s Evolving Foreign Policy Views

In a recent interview with Tucker Carlson, HHS Director Robert F. Kennedy Jr. discussed the notable shift in Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s approach to foreign policy. Historically, Rubio was known as a foreign policy hawk. However, as he aligned more closely with President Donald Trump during the 2024 election cycle, his views seemed to transform, reflecting Trump’s “America first” agenda. Kennedy mentioned that while he used to be critical of Rubio, especially during discussions around Turkey, he now finds common ground with him on issues like Ukraine.

Kennedy remarked humorously that “Marco Rubio is the funniest man in the cabinet,” highlighting Rubio’s ability to bring humor to cabinet meetings. Yet, he admitted he previously dismissed Rubio as aligning too closely with neoconservative ideals.

Despite the changes, Rubio’s stance remains complex. He recently became Trump’s first confirmed cabinet member for the second term. While in the past he had promoted the idea of “freedom warriors” engaged in safeguarding democracy globally, his recent vote against the 2024 foreign aid package—despite funding for Ukraine—illustrates a more cautious approach. He continues to keep more hawkish views regarding China and Latin America and has even called for a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, suggesting that both sides should compromise to resolve the ongoing conflict.

Furthermore, Rubio underscored the importance of a robust strategy to address the challenges posed by China’s economy and military during his confirmation hearing earlier this month.
