Richard Gere Discusses Son’s Career in ‘Euphoria’

Richard Gere recently expressed his admiration for his son, Homer, and his rising career, although he has yet to watch Homer’s explicit scene in ‘Euphoria’ alongside Sidney Sweeney.

In an interview published on Monday, Gere mentioned that he still needs to catch up on the second episode of ‘Euphoria,’ where Homer’s character, Dylan Reed, engages in a heated moment with Sweeney’s character, Kathy Howard.

“I’m proud of him on two levels,” Gere remarked about the 26-year-old, noting, “He understands the craft quite well and manages it with grace.” It’s a sentiment that shows a mix of pride and perhaps a touch of selective viewing.

Describing Homer as a “good kid” and a “really nice young man who gets it,” Gere, at 76, acknowledged the challenges of the industry. “Not everyone can handle this job. I believe he will thrive,” he added.

Gere also highlighted excitement for his son’s future projects, which include a series called “The Shahs,” produced by Ryan Murphy, as well as a film directed by Oliver Stone.

In ‘Euphoria,’ Homer makes his debut in Season 3 and appears in two episodes where his character interacts significantly with Sweeney’s. Their storyline includes a memorable moment where they, quite literally, shake things up.

During a pivotal scene, the two break a bed and inadvertently send a painting crashing down. Following that, Cassie, played by Sweeney, snaps a photo of them in bed, captioning it with a playful remark that quickly goes viral.

“Euphoria” marked a significant breakthrough for Homer, leading into his next role as Robert Mallory in “The Shahs.” Before this venture, he had participated in several short films and even appeared in a music video in 2024.

Homer has mentioned previously that his father offered valuable insights into navigating life and art in a meaningful way, influencing his approach to acting.
