Richard Simmons has made his position clear on producing a biopic starring Pauly Shore.
“A Pauly Shore biopic is not my blessing. Some major studios are interested in having me involved in my story. Who should play me? Tom Cruise (lol).” Simmons said in a statement, a spokesperson confirmed to Fox News Digital on Friday.
Simmons’ comments come after Deadline reported that Jordan Allen-Dutton is set to write the script for the upcoming biopic. According to the paper, the film does not have a title and few details have been revealed.

Director Simmons also posted on Facebook on Wednesday, writing, “I just read that a man I don’t know is writing a biopic of me starring Pauly Shore. I do not approve of this movie. I am writing my own biopic. We are currently negotiating with major studios for this purpose.” Please wait for this movie. ”
Shore released a lengthy statement to Fox News Digital, explaining that he “cried all night” after seeing Simmons’ social media posts.
“Richard, why can’t you agree with this movie? I mean, is there anyone better suited than me to play you in the movie?” Shore said. “Leonardo DiCaprio isn’t going to play you. Brad Pitt isn’t going to play you. I’m perfect. Everyone already thinks I’m you. We’re the same. Inside and out. It’s beautiful too!”

“Richard, you’re not even listening! Why don’t you have me come over to your house and bring me some hot matzo ball soup and pastrami sandwiches with Canter’s dark mustard and rub your feet? Hear author Jordan Allen Dutton pitch our ideas.
“I know you, Richard. We used to hang out together a long time ago. We always met at The Comedy Store. You’re an old friend of mine. In January, it was announced that Shore would play Simmons in the feature film. In September, a viral meme about Paulie and Richard’s similar looks circulated online. Ms. Shore announced on Facebook that she had contacted Ms. Simmons about her role in the film.
“I’ve noticed all the reactions to me playing Richard Simmons in the new biopic,” Pauley wrote at the time. “So I reached out to him. I heard he lives deep in Big Bear. We’ve been playing tag on the phone (yes, he still has the phone) .
“I’m trying to make it happen for all of you. Be optimistic. In the meantime, reach out to Hulu, Amazon, Disney, HBO, and all the big producers. I’m wrong. You can transform into this guy without any hesitation. See you at the 2025 Academy Awards. ”
Shortly after making the social media post, Shore released a statement to People magazine about why he believes the Richard Simmons biopic will “unite America.”
“He helped so many people. When you read people talking about him, they always say, ‘I weighed 400 pounds, but Richard Simmons saved my life. He was always positive and valued helping people, and I think that positivity is what people need because there’s so much anxiety and division in the world.” He told the same media.

“There’s joy and flamboyance that we both like to share. We’re both very physical, over-the-top and silly.”
Simmons announced in a Facebook post Wednesday that she would like to star in a movie that spotlights her life. In March, the former fitness guru announced that he had been diagnosed with skin cancer, more than a decade after being out of the public eye.

Richard revealed to fans that he was “dying” and detailed the moment he found out about his diagnosis and the surgery he underwent to remove cancer cells.
“I didn’t understand everything,” he wrote in the post. “He burned my face again. This time it was worse than before… deeper. This time I didn’t cry, but I gritted my teeth. ‘Please come back in an hour and a half.’ “…Continue… “
After sparking controversy among fans online, Simmons’ rep told Fox News Digital: “Sweat out to the oldies” Instructors “don’t die.”
