Rick Buckler, drummer of The Jam, dies at 69 after short illness | Culture

Rick Buckler, drummer of the rock group The Jam, passed away at the age of 69 after a brief illness.

In a statement, his family said Buckley “died peacefully on a walking trip on Monday evening after a brief illness with his family.”

The statement described him as “a beloved husband, father, grandfather” “dedicated to many people,” “a great overlooked.”

The Buckler was part of the band's classic lineup alongside bass players Bruce Foxton and guitarist Paul Weller in the late 1970s punk and new wave eras.

The band, which has achieved 18 consecutive British Top 40 singles, is best known for tracks such as towns called Maris, and will go underground at underground stations in the middle of the night.

In a post on a verified Instagram account, Weller said: I remember all the rehearsals to us in my bedroom on Stanley Road, Walking.

“To ultimately make a record of every pub or club we played as kids. What a journey. We're far beyond our dreams, what we've created is a test of time. I have a deep sympathy for all my family and friends.”

Buckler was featured in Jam's six studio albums, including The City (1977), All Mod Cons (1978), and Sound Effects (1980).

Jam achieved four UK number one singles and one UK number one album.

The band split in 1982 and never reunited completely, but Foxton and Buckler played together many times afterwards from Jam, and Weller continued his career as a Style Council and solo artist. Ta.

Foxton wrote on social media: Rick was a good guy and an incredible drummer whose innovative drum patterns helped shape our songs.

“I'm pleased to have had the opportunity to work with us as much as we do. My thoughts are with Leslie and his family during this extremely difficult time.”
