The “caretaker” of St. John's basketball paid tribute to Lou Carnesecca at the Johnnies' game against Kansas State on Saturday.
Rick Pitino wore a replica of the sweater Carnesecca made famous during his days on the St. John's sideline.
Mr. Carnesecca passed away last Saturday at the age of 99.
This was the Red Storm's first game since his death.
When Pitino took to the floor, he opened his sports jacket to reveal a custom-made sweater to the fans at Carnesecca Arena.
St. John's held a moment of silence for Carnesecca and paid tribute to him via video.
There were multiple “Lou” chants before the opening tip to the Hall of Fame coach.
