Jeff Van Gundy returned to Providence a month ago. At what was called the Civic Center when he worked there, the 24-year-old graduate assistant was only removed for a year from the bystanders of McQuaid Jesuit High in Rochester.
St. John's spends the weekend in the arena. Now called the Amica Mutual Pavilion, when they do so, they will see why Vanguardy was there. He only worked for Providence for a year.
But, man, it's been a year.
“This is not an exaggeration,” says Van Gundy from Los Angeles. There he is lead assistant to Clippers coach Tyrone Lou. “We've never had a player as valuable as Billy D., and the coach never gained more talent from his roster talent to extract all his strengths from each player.”
