Rick Scott Was There for Me After Parkland Shooting

When President-elect Donald Trump selects his Cabinet, the Senate will make its own choice about who will be the majority leader.

Whether the Senate chooses Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) will determine whether the Senate opposes or supports the deep state's efforts to sabotage Trump's presidency.

Other, more expert commentators can and will have much more to say about other candidates.

I want to talk about who Rick Scott is as a person and as a leader.

My daughter Meadow was killed in the 2018 Parkland school shooting. Rick Scott was governor at the time.

I met many, many politicians in the immediate aftermath, and in the months and years that followed. Too many of them weren't real men. I'm not saying they're lizard people. You just know they were making a deal. We can see that they saw the murdered schoolgirl's father as a prop rather than as a man who had suffered an immeasurable loss.

Rick Scott led the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Public Safety Act, a bipartisan bill promoting school safety. He has drawn a line with Republicans on important issues such as gun rights. He also worked with Democrats to incorporate some of their healthier priorities into the bill, which won widespread support.

He also knew it was important to find out what happened. So he established the MSD Public Safety Committee, which investigated in detail what happened before and during the massacre. I have no doubt that the lessons learned there have saved countless lives.

Whether you're a Democrat or a Republican, why not ask your Florida sheriff who is the first person to call in an emergency? This is Rick Scott.

Rick Scott has proven to me that he is a great leader. Since then he has proven to me that he is a good person.

Scott is always in touch with me and my family. He had no political reason to do so. We just connected and he just cared.

President Trump understands that loyalty is the most important political virtue. Especially today, when the president has disloyal Republican leaders, his moves will be blocked by lobbyists and deep state interests. We've seen it happen before with Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan.

We can't let the same thing happen again. America has given Donald Trump an amazing mission. Congress must work with him to make that happen. If we elect a senator named Rick Scott, who I know is a disloyal man, we may indeed be on the verge of a new golden age. Otherwise, I fear the quagmire will be fought against Trump at every corner.
