Rick Wilson Dials Up Anti-Trump Rhetoric After 2nd Assassination Attempt

Rick Wilson, co-founder of the anti-Trump Lincoln Project, has doubled down on his fear-mongering against former President Donald Trump following a second assassination attempt on him this week.

“Donald Trump is a fascist. A dictator. Corrupt, a traitor, a psychopath and a danger to the nation. Censorship and prior compliance with intimidation are what create evil dictators like Trump. I will not be silent,” Wilson posted on X on Thursday.

Wilson has long stoked the flames of hatred against Trump, even urging Republican donors in 2015 to “put a bullet in the arm” at him.

The Republican donor base “cannot just stand by and say, 'Well, don't worry, everything's going to be fine,'” Wilson said in an MSNBC interview.

“They're still going to have to put a bullet in Donald Trump,” Wilson said. “And that's a fact.”

The day after the second attempted attack on Sunday – when Secret Service agents spotted Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, pointing a rifle through the fence of Trump's golf course in West Palm Beach – the Lincoln Project argued that “Donald Trump is a threat to our democracy.”

The next day, the group posted that “Trump and the MAGA Party are the only ones embracing political violence.”

“Democrats should be absolutely ashamed of how they have positioned Donald Trump, a duly elected former president and the clear Republican nominee in the 2024 election cycle,” said Buck Sexton, a former CIA officer and conservative commentator. The Megyn Kelly Show on monday.

Sexton noted that Democrats have argued that the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol was worse than the 9/11 terrorist attacks or the attack on Pearl Harbor.

“According to the Democrats, this man, Donald Trump, [an] “This attack is worse than the jihadist massacre of innocent people that killed nearly 3,000 people in a single day and sparked the global war on terror. He is worse than that,” Sexton said.

Sexton added that Rouse “will be able to point to some of the most powerful and trusted Democrats in government, the media and corporate America and say, 'I agree with them, I'm just determined to do something about this.'”

“That's the mindset that's been cultivated here,” he added. “If I could stop somebody from plotting a second Pearl Harbor, right? I mean, you start to go down this rabbit hole. They only say that because it's convenient political rhetoric. They'll explain it that way, right?”
