Tensions escalated at The Players Championship on Saturday as Rickie Fowler and his caddy got into an angry confrontation with a fan who appeared to have distracted him during his tee shot.
On his follow-through after hitting the ball on the par-5 16th hole, Fowler dropped one hand from his club, shot an accusatory finger at one of the spectators, and yelled, “It’s you!”
Here is a video of what happened at the 16th tee box. Romano had told the same man multiple times just before to put his cell phone on silent, but he didn’t do it. Ricky wasn’t a fan of his. pic.twitter.com/Vovx1RlM3X

Fowler’s caddy Ricky Romano also asked the fans, “What are you doing?”

Reportedly, the problem was that fans’ phones kept ringing or notifications kept ringing. Romano repeatedly told fans to turn off the sound before golfers took their shots. However, it seems that fans did not heed the request.

But fortunately for Fowler, the shot landed fair after traveling a considerable distance of 523 yards. Fowler is currently +2 at T69.
