NASCAR Driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Sells North Carolina Estate for $12.2 Million

NASCAR driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has set a new benchmark in the Charlotte Metro area, selling his North Carolina estate for an impressive $12.2 million. This is the highest amount recorded for a home in the region.

The property, which spans roughly 140 acres and is situated in Charlotte—a focal point for professional stock car drivers just about 30 miles north of the city—was acquired by an all-cash buyer from South Florida, as noted by Josh Tucker, a listing agent at Corcoran HM Properties.

This sale is remarkable, considering Stenhouse bought the estate for $3.8 million back in 2013. The Wall Street Journal initially reported on this transaction.

The property was originally listed for just under $16 million in 2022 and had a recent asking price of $12.99 million. However, when the buyer presented a strong offer, Stenhouse decided to close the deal without putting it back on the market.

“This property is truly something special,” Tucker remarked. “From world-class equestrian facilities to resort-style grounds and exquisite architecture, it’s a unique asset not only for Charlotte but for the entire Southeast.”

Built around 2000, the main house covers over 9,100 square feet, featuring five bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, and two half baths.

Interior highlights include gourmet kitchens with quartz countertops and walk-in pantries, private libraries, luxurious home theaters, and expansive terraces that overlook beautifully maintained grounds. Outdoors, the estate boasts a fully equipped kitchen, a pool with a burnishing edge, a pool house, putting greens, and a fireplace.

The 5,500-square-foot European-style barn offers 18 custom stalls, a covered riding arena, and climate-controlled tack rooms.

“Buyers in this price category seek more than just a home; they’re after a lifestyle, complete privacy, and distinctive features,” Tucker explained.

Interestingly, the new buyers have no ties to NASCAR, according to Tucker.

Despite the sale, Stenhouse, who won the 2023 Daytona 500 and is a two-time NASCAR Xfinity Series champion, has not moved away. He and his wife, Madison, still own an adjacent 160-acre parcel they purchased in 2018 and are contemplating building a new home there, as Tucker mentioned.

Previous high-end sales in the Charlotte area peaked at $11.5 million in July 2024. Tucker indicated that the unique blend of agricultural land, luxurious amenities, and proximity to Charlotte and Lake Norman contributed to the $12.2 million sale price.

Overall, this deal signifies a growing momentum in the luxury real estate market of the region.
