Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that Republicans are using faith as a weapon to defeat transgender people.
Host Dana Bash said, “Republicans are attacking President Biden for recognizing today as Transgender Day of Visibility. Let’s be clear: This Day of Transgender Visibility was born in 2009. The president has marked the date of Easter as changing every year since he came to the White House. Speaker of the House calls Biden’s announcement abominable. , it goes without saying that Biden has betrayed the central figures of Easter. What do you say to that?”
Warnock said: “Apparently the speaker feels that transgender people are abhorrent and I think he should think about that.”In fact, as you said, March 31st is a day of violence and bigotry.” Easter, the date of which changes every year, is another example of how people who don’t know how to lead us are trying to divide us. This is the exact opposite of the Christian faith.”
Furthermore, “Jesus centered the marginalized. He sent it to the poor, and in times like these we need voices, especially voices of faith. We use our faith not as a weapon to defeat others, but as a bridge that brings us all together. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, It is an honor to preach from the pulpit.”
