Riley Gaines Reacts to Charlie Kirk’s Assassination
Riley Gaines expressed deep sorrow over the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk, describing him as a friend and a leader. In a heartfelt video shared on Outkick, Gaines condemned the political violence targeting well-known conservative figures.
The NCAA All-American swimmer and host of the podcast “Gaines for Girls” reflected on Kirk’s death, which occurred due to a single bullet during a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University. She mentioned how she and Kirk shared moments at events like the “American Comeback Tour” in May, and she particularly noted the impact of his loss on his family, including his wife and two young children.
“I lost a friend and mentor; Erica lost her husband. This is a kind and caring woman, and I can’t help but think about the fear she must be feeling,” she shared. On social media, Gaines, along with others, pointed out the increasing intolerance towards open discussions in the US.
Reflecting on Kirk’s influence, she remarked, “This country has lost one of the most effective and impactful activists, and I’m not just talking about conservatives here.” Despite the tragedy, Gaines said she finds solace in their shared faith, believing that Kirk was a person who championed hope and a Christlike life.
Gaines praised Kirk for his courage in addressing challenging issues, stating he was committed to important values. On a grim note, law enforcement confirmed that a suspect, a 22-year-old named Tyler Robinson from Utah, has been arrested in connection with Kirk’s murder. The suspect’s family reportedly reached out to authorities after he allegedly confessed to the crime.
