Riley Gaines Critiques Alex Cooper’s Dating Advice
Riley Gaines, who hosts the Outkick Podcast, has expressed strong criticism towards Alex Cooper, the host of “Call Her Daddy.” Gaines described Cooper’s dating advice for women as more harmful than empowering, labeling it “toxic.” She questioned, “What is she peddling? That’s not empowerment. That’s poison,” and added that it was necessary to voice these concerns.
The criticism follows a viral segment from an episode aired on April 5, where Cooper suggested that women should ignore traditional dating norms in favor of casual encounters. “So kiss them. We sleep together the first night. I don’t care,” Cooper advised, encouraging listeners to prioritize what feels right for them.
Gaines argued that Cooper has turned hookup culture into a competitive game, suggesting the deeper issue at stake is hedonism. She noted, “She talks about treating intimacy like this casual transaction. But the real corruption in her message is the mantra of, ‘What feels good is good.'” According to Gaines, this perspective isn’t liberating but rather could lead young women down a troubling path.
She further emphasized her point by stating, “A woman should literally do the opposite of everything she tells her to do. This advice is a recipe for heartbreak, regret, guilt, shame, and broken families.” Gaines believes that Cooper’s popularity is indicative of a troubling cultural trend.
Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” has recently climbed the ranks, being recognized as one of the top podcasts. She has hosted numerous well-known guests, including Kamala Harris and Michelle Obama. Gaines remarked that Cooper’s success highlights some concerning trends in modern culture.
As for the implications of these messages, Gaines cautioned parents, saying, “Your daughters are under siege right now. They may think their value depends on performance rather than their true selves.” She urged mothers to highlight that genuine empowerment comes from self-worth and setting personal boundaries. “What feels good in the moment often leads to lifelong regrets,” she concluded.
As of now, representatives for Alex Cooper have not responded to requests for comment regarding these criticisms.
