Tucked away in an old brick warehouse in the city, this is a lovely spot that exudes the atmosphere of a rustic country town.
“When you go to a sushi bar, you get to eat a lot of different kinds of sushi,” Lanciani told Fox News Digital, referring to the unique name of his establishment, Ring Ding Bar.

“You can come to the salad bar and get any kind of salad,” Lanciani said. “You can come to the Ring Ding Bar and get a variety of Ring Dings.”
The baker, who was dubbed a “genius” by one customer, shrugged off the praise, instead calling himself a “little creative wizard”.
With meticulous care and an artistic flair, Lanciani reinvents the supermarket snack “Ring Ding,” as she mixes in a bowl a crayon box emerges, a kaleidoscope of colors and flavors.
“When I was a kid, I thought it was great to have a Ring Ding in my life.”
Original Ring Dings, round chocolate devil's food cakes filled with vanilla cream and covered in chocolate icing, are still sold in markets and convenience stores today and were widely popular in the 1950s and '60s when Lanciani was growing up.

Ring Dingus was both her family's second home and a symbol of America's burgeoning postwar consumer culture and domestic abundance that her baker father fought for and won soon after arriving from the Old World.
“They gave me good feelings and good vibes, so I started making them.”
Her parents, Joseph and Maxine (Moura) Carvalho, were both immigrants from Portugal, her mother arriving in the late 1920s and her father in the mid-1930s.
Joe Carvalho earned his red, white and blue stripes as a U.S. Army Air Corps navigator aboard B-17 bombers during World War II.

His plane was shot down over Europe and Carvalho spent the rest of the war in a German prisoner-of-war camp.
Lanciani said he remains proud of his late father's contributions to the country that was his family's adopted home.
