Rita Benson LeBlanc Arrested in South Carolina
This week, Rita Benson LeBlanc, the granddaughter of New Orleans Saints’ owner Tom Benson, found herself in legal trouble in South Carolina. Reports indicate that she was arrested after a confrontation with a parking enforcement officer.
LeBlanc, who is 48, was taken into custody at the Charleston Police Station around 6:30 PM on Monday. She faced charges of interference or obstructing an officer but was released the following morning after posting a personal recognized bond.
Details reveal that the incident involved LeBlanc allegedly pushing the officers who were attempting to place a boot on her vehicle. Sergeant Chris Stinson mentioned to a local outlet that LeBlanc recorded the officer’s equipment during the interaction. It remains unclear whether the officers were focused on her car specifically.
Interestingly, despite the claims of pushing officers, online prison records do not indicate any assault charges against her. Fox News Digital has reached out to the Charleston Police Department for further clarification on these details.
LeBlanc, although linked with the New Orleans Pelicans, saw her influence diminish after her grandfather’s passing in 2018. Following his death, Gale Benson, Tom Benson’s wife, assumed ownership of the team, which was a significant shift in the organization.
Previously, LeBlanc held a prominent role as an executive and co-owner of both the Saints and Pelicans. However, her position changed dramatically when she was dismissed from her role back in 2014. LeBlanc is scheduled to appear in court next month to address the recent charges.
