Rob Gronkowski shares an intense story about Aaron Hernandez from their time with the Patriots.

Gronkowski Confirms Rumors About Hernandez

It’s certainly an interesting way to pass the time during a team meeting.

Rob Gronkowski has acknowledged a rather shocking rumor put out by former Titan offensive lineman Taylor Lewan. This rumor claimed that Gronkowski’s late teammate Aaron Hernandez, during a team meeting, engaged in inappropriate behavior.

“We’ve heard about him being in the team’s meeting room and doing some wild stuff,” Lewan mentioned in a recent episode of the “Bussin with the Boys” podcast.

“Maybe,” Gronkowski responded with a chuckle. “That’s a possibility.”

His laughter seemed to grow as he elaborated, confirming just how crazy things could be.

“I might or might not have seen it happen in real time,” the former tight end remarked. “I don’t really confirm or deny it, but I have a taste for wild things. It was quite epic, really. I didn’t lose my mind over it.”

Gronkowski and Hernandez played together on the Patriots from 2010 to 2012, forming one of the most memorable tight end duos in NFL history.

Their partnership ended abruptly due to Hernandez’s legal troubles. He was arrested and later convicted of first-degree murder and weapons-related charges, earning a life sentence without the possibility of parole before his tragic death in April 2017.

Reflecting on the chaos of their time together, Gronkowski expressed that while he noticed a lot of madness, he never expected things would escalate to the level they did.

He mentioned that watching recent documentaries about Hernandez revealed new insights that he wasn’t previously aware of. “I had some idea he had a wild side,” Gronkowski said. “But when it all comes to light, it’s clear there are aspects that fit what they say in those documentaries. Maybe some of it is exaggerated, but some definitely aren’t.”

He went on to say, “I was aware of a few things, but I really didn’t know how extreme it was. Still, it doesn’t come as a complete shock.”

During their peak in the 2011 season, the duo racked up impressive stats — 169 catches, 2,237 yards, and 24 touchdowns in the regular season.

They pushed through to the Super Bowl in 2012, contributing 36 catches and five touchdowns for 416 yards, although they faced a tough loss against the Giants.

Gronkowski referred to their partnership as “the best combination in the tight end position,” expressing disappointment over what they could have achieved together.

He praised Hernandez’s exceptional football knowledge, recalling how quickly Hernandez learned the playbook. “I was right there with him all through his career,” Gronkowski noted. “It’s a tragedy what happened because his talent was just incredible. If we had continued that duo, who knows where we would have gone?”

Off-field issues disrupted their potential success. Gronkowski admitted he was taken aback when he first learned about the extent of Hernandez’s actions. “It’s pretty sad, isn’t it? It makes you question why things turned out that way. We had everything in front of us, especially when you think about our dynamic as a tandem.”
