Robberies surge in NYC

Robberies are on the rise in New York City, according to police data.

In Brooklyn, police said three robbers attacked a 67-year-old man inside the 66th subway station around 1:30 a.m. on May 3.

The victim was punched in the face and forcibly robbed of his MetroCard and cell phone by two of the assailants on the mezzanine of the Ditmas Avenue F train station.

So far this year, the number of robberies in police stations has increased from 28 to 39, or 39.3%, according to the data.
