Robert De Niro Joins “No Kings” Protest Movement
Actor Robert De Niro has stepped into the spotlight, supporting the “No Kings” protest movement. In a recent video, he urged Americans to either volunteer or help organize local demonstrations.
“The first No Kings protests happened 250 years ago when Americans decided they didn’t want to be ruled by George III. They declared independence and fought hard for democracy,” De Niro stated while promoting the national effort.
“We’ve enjoyed democracy for the past two and a half centuries. It hasn’t always been easy—sometimes, it’s been quite messy—but it’s essential. We even fought two world wars to defend it. Now, we face a royal candidate, Donald I, who seems intent on taking it away from us. This just can’t happen!” he added, referencing his character from Introduction to Fockers. “It’s time to stand up again, peacefully, and proclaim No King. I’m Robert De Niro, and I invite you to join the national No King protests on October 18th. Head over to nokings.org to find, volunteer, or host a protest in your area. We are united, and we want freedom and justice for all.”
The last “No Kings” protests were held back in June, but they didn’t fare well in terms of attendance. The event faced mockery from President Trump’s administration due to the low turnout, which coincided with a big celebration for the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary in Washington, D.C. This event featured a large military parade, live performances, and fireworks, overshadowing the protests.
Stephen Chan, the White House communications director, commented on the protests, describing them as a “complete failure” with minimal participation. “It’s unfortunate that instead of celebrating our military and Flag Day, some Democrats and liberals choose to support criminals and illegal immigrants,” he remarked at the time.
However, he also noted that many Americans continue to honor the brave service members who have sacrificed for the country.
Looking ahead, the next “No Kings” protest is scheduled for October 18th.
