Robert Kraft Reflects on Decision Regarding Macklemore’s Performance

Robert Kraft, the owner of the New England Patriots, has shared his thoughts on blocking rapper Macklemore from performing with Ed Sheeran at Gillette Stadium after Macklemore made accusations against Israel.

In a statement released on Monday, Kraft expressed his desire to have a conversation with Macklemore. “I would welcome the opportunity to sit down with Macklemore and discuss the facts,” he said, noting that both he and the rapper ultimately share a common goal: peace for everyone, an end to suffering, and the eradication of hate.

According to the California Post, this comment came just hours after Macklemore criticized Kraft on social media, alleging that Kraft pressured Sheeran to make an ultimatum regarding Macklemore’s role as an opener on his tour.

Macklemore recounted a conversation with Ed Sheeran, who, amidst media scrutiny, informed him that Kraft had called, indicating that Macklemore would not be allowed to perform at Gillette Stadium. “Ed told me that Kraft said I would not be allowed to perform in his stadium,” Macklemore shared.

He further mentioned that Kraft had coordinated with other stadium owners to create an ultimatum: if Macklemore remained on the tour, Sheeran would be barred from playing in their venues.

Kraft, in his statement, clarified that his decision stemmed from the belief that Macklemore’s statements and imagery were “deeply offensive” and hurtful to the Jewish community.

“This decision is not about diminishing the suffering of innocent Palestinians or denying anyone the right to advocate on their behalf. Their pain and loss are real,” Kraft remarked.

He emphasized, however, that such advocacy should not come at the expense of the Jewish community or distract from Hamas’s responsibility as a designated terrorist organization, whose actions have caused significant suffering for both Palestinians and Israelis.

While Kraft aligns with Macklemore’s calls for peace, he voiced his discontent with the way Macklemore framed the ongoing conflict. “I agree with Macklemore. Too many lives have been lost, and there has been too much suffering, but only sharing selective information and ignoring the actions of Hamas is not honest and only advances more divisiveness and hate,” Kraft stated.
