Lisa Jakub will never forget how much her former on-screen father cared for her.
The 45-year-old former actress recalled writing a letter to the principal after learning that Robin Williams, who played her father in the classic 1993 comedy Mrs. Doubtfire, was being expelled for spending too much money. I reminisced. In between shooting.
“I got kicked out of high school because of ‘Doubtfire,'” Jake revealed this week on former Mrs. Doubtfire castmate Matthew Lawrence’s podcast, Brotherly Love.
“I went to high school in Canada, and I ended up leaving Canada for about four months to go shoot a movie and set up this system. The school and I had been exchanging emails for a while.

Yakub, who quit her acting career at age 22 without a high school degree, eventually earned her GED and now runs a nonprofit organization that helps veterans transition back into civilian life, among other things. He said he was there.
“You know what’s amazing? It’s like the lasting power of this movie. It’s unbelievable,” Lawrence said after co-starring Mara Wilson, the third sibling to appear on screen. He spoke while talking about his memories of “Doubtfire.” “This is definitely one of the best family comedies of all time. In fact, it’s probably the best of all time. It’s incredible how much this has meant to people and generations of people.”

Later in the podcast, Jakub said that Williams, a well-known improver, taught her the technique.
“When I started ‘Doubtfire,’ I had been working for 10 years, and I always used a script, so I knew when it was my turn to speak and I could say my lines. And then I go to the set.” I’m with Robin, and you never know what’s going to happen! ” she laughed. “So you really had to be there.”
