Robinson’s Texts Revealed During Preliminary Hearing

In the fourth day of his preliminary hearing, Tyler Robinson, a 23-year-old charged with the murder of Charlie Kirk, admitted to being a murderer in a text message to his roommate and girlfriend, Lance Twiggs.

On July 9, in a crowded 4th District Court in Provo, Utah, investigator Brian Davis presented messages exchanged between Robinson and Twiggs on the day of the incident, September 10, 2025.

One particularly telling automated message from Robinson read, “Stop what you’re doing and look under my keyboard.” It appears he might not have expected to survive the situation.

A handwritten note discovered under the keyboard stated, “I had an opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, so I took it.” After realizing the automated message had gone out, Robinson followed up with, “Shit, I tried to delete it.”

“I’m still OK,” he texted, also expressing a need to retrieve his firearm.

“I wanted to keep this a secret until I died of old age. I’m sorry for dragging you into this,” he added.

To which Twiggs replied, “Didn’t you do it???”

“Yes, I’m sorry,” Robinson confessed.

Detective Davis further discussed the sequence of events leading to Robinson’s arrest. On September 11, around 8:30 p.m., authorities learned that someone involved in the UVU shooting was going to turn himself in at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in St. George. Davis and his team quickly headed to St. George.

Upon arrival, they saw Robinson enter the facility with his parents and family friends.

“I heard he arrived there around 9 p.m. that night,” Davis noted.

After interviewing Robinson’s family and a friend named Mike Mitchell, Davis arrested Robinson at 4 a.m. on September 12 and took him to the Utah County Jail.
