Terror Threat Connected to Roblox

For quite a while, people have joked about adding “Minecraft” to their wild ideas to deter any authorities. But, things took a serious turn recently when an 18-year-old was found discussing plans for a terrorist attack related to the gaming platform Roblox. This twist has transformed the light-hearted meme into something quite alarming.

The young man’s ambitions were curbed when other players on Roblox—home to around 80 million users—alerted law enforcement upon witnessing ominous chats within the game.

The developments quickly exposed troubling intentions, causing other gamers to express shock.

One statement that caught attention was, “By my own definition, yes, I think I’d be a terrorist.”

Reports suggested that James Wesley Berger, under the username Crazz3pain, openly detailed desires to carry out an ISIS-inspired attack while playing Roblox. He communicated about wanting to, perhaps, “deal with something pleasant,” which, honestly, raises a few eyebrows.

In one chat, he was questioned about the timeline, responding, “It’s going to be a few months. April.”

A witness also told the FBI that Berger had shown a desire to “kill Shiite Muslims in their mosque” back in January and hoped to commit violence during a Christian concert.

When the FBI searched his home, even more unsettling information came to light.

My San Antonio reported that a family member had installed software at the FBI’s request to monitor his computer activity. The investigation showed that Berger had researched firearms, ammunition, and terms like “Lone Wolf Terrorist ISIS.”

He also searched for local festivals and looked up topics like “suicide attacks,” along with Islamic terms.

Further inquiries revealed that his email was linked to the Roblox account under scrutiny, with evidence backing his alarming statements.

During questioning, Berger seemed oddly composed. He stated, “The closest thing I mentioned was that I voluntarily referred to… using it like a pistol or car or a small hunting rifle.” He even paused to pray amid his electronics being confiscated but insisted he never mentioned shotguns.

Additionally, he voiced that his aspirations included “Christian death” and either fleeing the country or dying while attempting a violent act.

Interestingly, during conversations, he questioned whether he should be labeled a “terrorist.” He articulated some uncertainty, saying, “[T]his intentions…and actions are intended to be terrorist or cause fear, but I can’t agree with the term.” It’s a rather convoluted stance.

In a comment to Blaze News, representatives from Roblox emphasized that safety is fundamental to the platform. They acted quickly to aid law enforcement before any actual harm occurred and conducted their investigation in line with their policies. They noted that all identified users linked to the threats have been dealt with appropriately.

Details emerged that Burger was arrested on February 28 and handed over to federal agents by May. He faces two felony charges related to interstate communication threats, as evidence linked him to accessing Roblox from various locations in Texas.

Witnesses reported seeing messages that implied a potential terrorist act planned in Nevada.

After the events unfolded, Berger was released on bail, cited as a flight risk.
