Phil Collins is not “hunger” to make new music due to his continued illness.
In 2022, the legendary musician revealed that he could not play drums because it was too difficult to pick up a drumstick.
Now, Collins is shedding light on the current state of his health – it wasn't that good.

The singer-songwriter and longtime Genesis member is considering making new music, but he is no longer willing to do so.

The latest original work Collins did was in 2002 for his solo album, Testify. In 2010 he released “Going Back,” which consists of covers from Motown, but since then he hasn't released anything.
Genisis took part in the tour in 2022, with Collins taking part. He sat in a chair to sing during the performance, and his son Nick played the drums.

At the end of the tour's final show, Collins announced that it will be his final performance in Genesis.
“Tonight is a very special night. Of course we're playing in London. It's the last stop on our tour and the last show of Genesis,” he said on the show. “It's hard for us to believe you've still come out to see it. I think we all have to get a real job tonight.”

In December, Collins released the documentary “Phil Collins: Drummer First.” He discussed how difficult it would be for him to continue playing.
“It's still a bit sinking. I'm playing drums. It's a shock to not be able to do that all of a sudden,” Collins said in a 2022 documentary.

The star, who has been playing drums since childhood, believes that playing for a long time “had a blow to my hands and feet.”

Collins did not share any additional information about his health, but in a 2017 Facebook post, he said he was suffering from drop footing “as a result of a difficult back operation to walk.”

Collins spoke again about his health struggle in a 2021 interview “BBC breakfast.”
“I can barely hold the stick with his hand, so there are certain physical things that get in the way,” he said.

Collins joined Genesis in 1970, and the band was head-on by singer-songwriter Peter Gabriel. In 1975, Gabriel left the band, and Collins took over as the band's lead singer and Faith.
In 1996, Collins officially left the band and pursued a solo career, but achieved massive solo success in the 1980s. His first solo hit was The Tune “In The Air Tonight.” This is one of his most famous songs.
