Rodeo star Spencer Wright and his wife say they have not given up hope of saving their brain-dead three-year-old son and remain hopeful there is still “time for a miracle.”
Wright and his wife, Callie, were scheduled to finish caring for their toddler Levi on Wednesday, the day after he plunged his toy tractor into a river in Utah.
But they changed their plans at the last minute after receiving advice from their son’s new doctor, family spokeswoman Mindy Sue Clark said in an update shared.
“She felt strongly that she needed to be given more time,” they said, alongside a heartbreaking photo of Levi being held in his mother’s arms as his father looked on in bed. Ta.
“This doesn’t mean we can’t be back in the same position within 12 hours holding him in our arms and preparing to say goodbye, but it does mean we have time to make a miracle happen!” they said.
“Pray as hard as you have ever done, please!” No matter what the outcome is, it is the Lord’s will. ”
Levi has been hospitalized since driving a large tractor into a river in Utah on Tuesday night, but his family previously said he was not expected to survive at the time.
“Levi’s heart is beating on its own and he has the will to breathe, but his cute little brain has been starved of oxygen for far too long and there’s no coming back from that,” the previous update read. It was dark.
“We held him all night and felt strongly that his soul was no longer with us,” the first post continued.
But Clark later told ABC4 that Spencer and Curry had hope that their child would pull through.
Spencer Wright, 33, is ranked No. 35 in the world in 2023 by ProRodeo.
He comes from a family of famous cowboys, including his father, Bill Wright, a Pro Rodeo Hall of Famer.
“The entire professional rodeo community’s hearts are broken for the Wright family,” PRCA CEO Tom Grouse said in a statement following Levi’s accident. “We will continue to hold them in our thoughts and prayers.”
