Ron DeSantis suspends 2024 presidential campaign

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced Sunday afternoon that he is suspending his 2024 presidential campaign. DeSantis endorsed former President Donald Trump, declaring him a “better” candidate than President Joe Biden.

DeSantis shared: video On the eve of the New Hampshire primary, he announced on social media platform X that he was withdrawing from the presidential race.

DeSantis declared that “nobody worked harder” and that “we gave it all up on the field.” He added that if there was anything he could have done to make his campaign more successful, he would have done it.

The 45-year-old Republican governor said, “I'm proud to have fulfilled 100 percent of my promise. I have no intention of stopping now.”

“It's clear that the vast majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance,” DeSantis said. “They saw his presidency hampered by persistent resistance, and they see Democrats using the law to attack him to this day.”

“I have some disagreements with Donald Trump, including the coronavirus pandemic and the promotion of Anthony Fauci,” DeSantis continued. “It's clear that Trump is better than incumbent Joe Biden.”

“He has my support because we can't go back to the old Republican guard that we used to be,” he added.

DeSantis accused Nikki Haley of representing “excessive corporatism.”

DeSantis ended her campaign just days after finishing second in the Iowa caucuses, narrowly beating Haley with 20.1% of the vote, 30 points behind Trump.
