Ronald Acuna Jr. favored to repeat as NL MVP

Oddsmakers in Las Vegas believe there's a chance the National League MVP will be crowned again next season.

Atlanta Braves superstar Ronald Acuña Jr., who unanimously won the award last year, is the consensus favorite (+500, FanDuel Sportsbook) to win National League MVP during the 2024 MLB season. .

Acuña was aiming to win his first MVP award by becoming the first player in baseball history to hit at least 40 home runs and steal 70 bases in a season and lead the National League in RBIs, hits, and OPS.

On the odds board, the 26-year-old outfielder follows the Los Angeles Dodgers trio of Mookie Betts (+650), Freddie Freeman (+900) and Shohei Ohtani (+950).

Betts and Freeman, themselves MVP winners, finished second and third in voting last season behind Acuña.

Ohtani, of course, won the AL MVP unanimously last season and signed a record-breaking free agent contract with the Dodgers in December.

Acuña's teammate Matt Olson, Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. and Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper are tied for fifth-best odds on FanDuel at +1200.

Mets stars Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor are clearly outside the inner circle of MVP candidates, each ranking at +2500.

On the American League side, with less than a month left until the start of spring training, the Yankees' Aaron Judge and Juan Soto are the betting favorites.

Since moving to the AL, this is the first time in three seasons that Soto hasn't been a contender for the National League title heading into this year.
