Acuña’s Surprise Appearance at Super Bowl Halftime Show
Ronald Acuña Jr. found himself making a spontaneous choice to join Bad Bunny’s halftime show during the Super Bowl in 2026.
The Braves’ standout outfielder, who popped up during the Latin pop star’s performance on Sunday, shared that he received the invitation on Super Bowl day itself.
“I got a call on Thursday,” he mentioned to reporters, recalling how the request came just before the event.
Acuña admitted that he had no prior knowledge of the appearance but was nonetheless thrilled about the opportunity.
“I was really excited,” he remarked. “They reached out and said, ‘You’re going to the Bad Bunny Halftime Super Bowl,’ and I responded, ‘Okay, sure.’
He joined a lineup of celebrities, including Cardi B, Lady Gaga, and Ricky Martin, who made guest appearances during Bad Bunny’s show.
Interestingly, Acuña expressed his admiration for Bad Bunny, stating that he enjoys all of his tracks.
The five-time All-Star is linked to Bad Bunny’s sports marketing agency, Limas, which faced a legal challenge involving the MLBPA in 2024 and had previously worked with the artist.
The agency claimed that the sanctions imposed by the association caused significant damage and that they missed out on signing Acuña because of it.
The complaint highlighted that the Topps baseball card brand, supported by MLBPA, conveyed that it couldn’t engage in discussions regarding marketing or sponsorship deals with Limas Sports, which included Acuña.
This lawsuit was eventually resolved in March 2025, resulting in a $400,000 fine for Mr. Limas due to rule violations.
Acuña’s remarks come as the 2023 National League MVP is eager to play a full MLB season for the first time in three years.
The outfielder shared with reporters on Thursday that he is “feeling 200 percent” as he heads into spring training.
Braves manager Walt Weiss affirmed that Acuña is in an “excellent place” as he begins his ninth season.
“Ronald looks fantastic,” Weiss noted. “Mentally and emotionally, he’s in a really good spot. It’s been a tough few years for him. We know he’s got Hall of Fame potential, but he just needs to consistently show it, and he’s capable of doing that. He’s ready to burst through the door.”
