Tragic Passing of NFL Player Rondale Moore at 25
The NFL community is mourning the loss of wide receiver Rondale Moore, who was found deceased at his home in Indiana on Saturday, at just 25 years old. Authorities have reported that Moore’s death is suspected to be caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and he was discovered in the garage of his residence in New Albany. An investigation into the circumstances of his death is currently underway.
Floyd County Coroner Matthew Tomlin has confirmed Moore’s passing, noting that an autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.
Moore was previously a standout athlete at Purdue University before being selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2021 NFL Draft. Over three seasons with the Cardinals, from 2021 to 2023, he made notable contributions on the field. He was later traded to the Atlanta Falcons in 2024 but faced a season-ending injury shortly thereafter.
In March 2025, he joined the Minnesota Vikings. Unfortunately, he sustained another season-ending injury during a preseason game. The Vikings organization expressed their condolences to Moore’s family during this difficult time.
Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell stated, “We are shocked by the news of Rondale’s passing. Though his time with the Vikings was brief, we cared about him deeply. He was a humble, respectful young man with a strong connection to his Indiana roots.” O’Connell further emphasized Moore’s dedication and resilience throughout his career despite numerous challenges.
The Arizona Cardinals also expressed their heartbreak, stating that their thoughts are with Moore’s family, friends, and teammates during this trying time. “We are devastated and heartbroken,” the team added.
Jeff Brohm, head coach at Louisville Cardinals and former coach at Purdue during Moore’s time there, issued a statement reflecting on the loss.
Overall, Moore is being remembered not just as a talented player but as a beloved individual who touched many lives. The sense of loss is palpable across the NFL, where players, coaches, and fans alike are feeling the impact of his passing.
