Former Republican National Committee Chair and NBC News contributor Ronna McDaniel said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that the 2020 election was “problematic.”
Host Kristen Welker said, “I want to look at what you’re doing after the 2020 election. On November 17th, you and Donald Trump, two Michigan Republican officials, election officials. “If you can go home tonight, don’t sign it,” he is recorded saying on the phone, urging him not to certify the election results. I will arrange a lawyer. ” Do you have any regrets about that phone call? ”
McDaniel said, “These two people went into the hearing. They voted no. They didn’t vote not to certify. They said, ‘We need an audit.’ Wayne County had some problems. They’ve been consistent. They have been well documented throughout subsequent elections. As solicitors, they said, “We believe they should undergo an audit before certifying them.” That’s all they asked for. ”
She added, “As soon as the hearing started, they were called. So vile names, so vile names, my family was threatened, I changed my vote, I got upset and left. And I… I called them and said — I think we should agree, Republicans and Democrats alike — no one should be intimidated or bullied or forced to change their vote. And that That’s what happened to them. I’d like to end by saying that the phone call that night was, “Are you okay?” That’s my memory. That was three and a half years ago. These are people I knew. I live in Wayne County. OK? OK? Please vote your conscience. We don’t force them to do anything. ”
“In the end, 250 audits were conducted and no corruption was found,” Welker said. Given that Donald Trump lost in the 2011 court case, was there no responsibility to say that the election was not fraudulent?
“Joe Biden won. He’s the president. He’s the legitimate president. I’ve always said, and I will continue to say, that 2020 had problems,” McDaniel said. I believe both are true.”
Mr. Welker asked, “Can you sit here today and say that Joe Biden won the election fair and square?”
“He won. He’s the rightful president who won fair and square,” McDaniel said.
She added: “I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that 2020 has had its problems.”
