On Friday, Senator Jackson (R-Texas), President Trump’s former physician, posted a letter to Truth Social regarding Wray’s comments about the assassination attempt on President Trump.
“Two days ago at a congressional hearing, FBI Director Christopher Wray suggested it could have been a bullet, shrapnel or glass,” Jackson wrote. “There is absolutely no evidence that it was anything other than a bullet. As the hospital and I have confirmed, Congress should correct the record. It is erroneous and inappropriate for Director Wray to suggest otherwise.”
Jackson also spoke about his experience serving as a military surgeon in the U.S. Navy.
He said Butler Memorial Hospital, where Trump was taken shortly after the incident, “provided examination and treatment.” [Trump] He was arrested for a “gunshot wound to the right ear.”
“Based on my direct observation of the injuries, the relevant clinical context, and my extensive experience in evaluating and treating patients with similar injuries, I fully agree with the initial evaluation and treatment provided by the doctors and nurses at Butler Memorial Hospital on the day of the shooting,” he wrote.
Testifying before Congress on Wednesday, Wray suggested it’s possible that something other than a bullet may have struck the president’s ear.
“With regards to former President Trump, I think there’s a question as to whether it was a bullet or shrapnel that struck his ear,” Wray said.
After Wray’s comments, Trump asked Truth Social to respond to his suggestions.
“FBI Director Christopher Wray told Congress yesterday that he doesn’t know if I was hit with shrapnel, glass or a bullet (the FBI wouldn’t even check!) but he is confident that the villainous Joe Biden was physically and cognitively ‘unfair’ – which is false!,” Trump wrote. “The hospital called it a ‘gunshot wound to the ear’ and that is what it was. No wonder the once renowned FBI has lost America’s trust!”
The FBI said it was still analyzing the shell casing found near Trump’s stage to try to determine what hit him in the ear.
“This was a heinous attack, and the FBI is dedicating significant resources to learning all we can about the shooter and what led to this violent act,” the FBI said. “The FBI’s shooting reconstruction team continues to examine evidence at the scene, including bullet fragments, and the investigation is ongoing.”
