I really wish he had done this in Queens.
On Tuesday, Ronnie Mauricio showcased his talent by hitting three home runs for the Syracuse Mets, leading to a commanding 12-3 victory over the Worcester Red Sox on their turf.
These three home runs marked the 17th occurrence in franchise history for a Syracuse player and the first since Trayce Thompson achieved the same feat on May 17, 2024.
Mauricio is off to a fantastic start this minor league season.
His first home run came in the fourth inning, where he crushed a 1-0 slider to right-center field against Red Sox pitcher Isaac Coffey.
In the fifth inning, he followed up with another impressive shot, a two-run homer that sailed over center field, extending the Mets’ lead to 5-0.
Later, he completed his hat trick in the eighth inning by hitting a ball that caught the screen in center field, bringing their lead to 12-1.
Overall, Mauricio has hit five home runs in his last four games, raising his total to six since the minor league season began. His current stats show 17 hits, 13 RBIs, five stolen bases, and an impressive batting average of .315.
It hasn’t been a smooth ride for Mauricio at the start of the 2026 MLB season. After a solid spring training in Port St. Lucie, he was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.
When Juan Soto landed on the disabled list, the Mets called him up on April 6, and the very next day, he secured his first career walk-off hit in a game against the Diamondbacks.
That win was short-lived, though, as the Mets have been on a rough patch, now with a 12-game losing streak after their 5-3 loss to the Twins on Tuesday night at Citi Field, where they managed only one run in six innings.
On April 13, Mauricio was sent back to Syracuse to make room for Tommy Pham on the MLB roster.
