Rose Bowl half-marathon and 5K postponed due to wildfires

The Rose Bowl Half Marathon and 5K, scheduled for January 19th, has been postponed due to wildfires in Southern California.

This is the fourth sporting event in the region to be rescheduled due to the fires. The Kings and Lakers game was postponed and Monday night's playoff game between the Vikings and Rams was rescheduled for Arizona.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the ongoing fires in and around the city of Pasadena and the greater Los Angeles area. It’s at the heart of every decision we make.” McCourt Foundationthe race's sponsor, said in a statement.

“At this time, we are actively working with our Rose Bowl partners to reschedule the Rose Bowl Half Marathon & 5K. A new date has not yet been determined, but we have emailed participants and the community. We will share updates on our website and social media as soon as they become available.

This race has been running since 2019. Runners run through the Pasadena neighborhood near the legendary stadium, then finish on the field.

The fire burned approximately 30,000 acres, destroyed more than 10,000 buildings, and claimed at least 10 lives.
