Rosie O’Donnell Voices Support for Jelly Roll Following Political Remarks

Rosie O’Donnell, the comedian and former host of The View, has expressed her admiration for country singer Jelly Roll after his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. During the show, Jelly Roll made headlines by criticizing President Donald Trump and urging Republicans to stop streaming his music.

In a social media post, O’Donnell enthusiastically commented, “I love this Jelly Roll guy. Shoutout to you. Back at you. You are killing this, mister. I’m going to go have a jelly donut in your honor.”

She also extended an open invitation to Jelly Roll, who took on hosting duties for Kimmel while sharing his candid views.

During his guest appearance, Jelly Roll highlighted a significant event: “Let’s talk about the main event of America this weekend. It was the big IndyCar race hosted by the president,” he stated, referring to the Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, D.C. “The cars drove through the streets of D.C., and there’s Donald Trump who apparently has never held a flag before.”

Reacting to footage of Trump at the event celebrating America’s semisesquicentennial, Jelly Roll remarked, “What a shit job! How do you mess up waving a flag?”

He noted that although the president seemed to enjoy the IndyCar race, it was a change for him, given that he usually prefers to be the focus. Jelly Roll didn’t hold back, also criticizing Trump for taking a ceremonial lap around the track, suggesting the act resembled a “loyalty program at a strip club.” He quipped, “Five percent cash back in the champagne room for all Lap of Honor members.”

As his comments continued, Jelly Roll, in a rather bold move, declared that he no longer wanted fans who aren’t aligned with his views. He voiced frustration about some individuals online who felt he should have shown the president more respect. He emphasized, “But I want to remind y’all that I go by the name Jelly Roll.”

Jelly Roll explained that his intention was to crack jokes because that’s the essence of a late-night show. “That’s where you talk about the news and you make jokes,” he stated.

Addressing fans who threatened to boycott his music following his comments, he encouraged them to act on their vows. “For those who threatened to stop listening to my music based on my comments last night, I just want to say with conviction: go right ahead,” he asserted.
