Rosie O'Donnell 'Devastated' by Eric Swalwell Controversy, Likens Disgraced Politician to Bill Clinton: 'Men Are Awful'

Rosie O’Donnell Expresses Heartbreak Over Eric Swalwell Allegations

Rosie O’Donnell has shared her deep disappointment regarding the sexual assault allegations against former Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), likening the situation to the scandal surrounding former President Bill Clinton and bluntly stating, “Men suck.”

“Can we talk a little bit about Eric Swalwell?” O’Donnell remarked in a recent video. “I asked that person, ‘In what form?’ I know in a sense. I think we spoke on the phone a few times and donated money.”

She recounted her earlier belief in Swalwell, noting that she admired him and his family during public appearances. “Then everything about him came out, and it’s heartbreaking for me,” she continued. “I even wrote him a letter, telling him, ‘Bill Clinton broke my heart, and now you have too.’ So, yeah, the guy sucks.”

O’Donnell went on to express that the situation with Swalwell had taught her a tough lesson about trust. “Men cannot control their sexual urges,” she said, adding that this revelation had led her to be wary of others. “We’re raised not to trust anyone,” she noted.

“It’s about not trusting anyone,” O’Donnell reiterated. “People portray themselves one way, but underneath, they’re different.” She emphasized the complexities of human nature, mentioning addictions, compulsions, and how privilege can skew one’s perspective.

Her comments come in light of Swalwell’s recent announcement that he would suspend his campaign for governor and resign from Congress amid mounting allegations, which include serious charges like drugging and raping a woman, alongside sexually assaulting a staff member.

O’Donnell criticized Swalwell further, questioning how he could accuse other lawmakers of moral failing while having a troubled past himself. “How could he attack all the other members of Congress for moral incompetence when he’s been doing what he’s been doing for years?” she questioned, expressing anger and disappointment, particularly towards politicians in general. “They lie and present an inaccurate picture, and we get fooled by them.”

O’Donnell also took shots at Donald Trump and Melania Trump, adding to her frustrations. While she seems to have developed a pattern of criticizing the former president since moving to Ireland before his administration took office, she claims to avoid following the news closely.

I mean, it’s odd, right? She’s been back to the U.S. a couple of times now, despite her earlier vows not to return while Trump was in office.
