Rosie O’Donnell jokingly reveals ‘straight’ love affair with Lyle Menendez

Rosie O'Donnell has revealed that convicted murderer Lyle Menendez is the first “straight man” ever “loved and trusted.”

“He told me about his life, what he does in prison, and for the first time in my life I felt safe enough to trust, be vulnerable and love a straight man.”

Lyle, 57, and his brother, Eric Menendez, were convicted of first-degree murder in 1989 after killing his parents, Joe and Kitty Menendez.

O'Donnell, 63, revealed that his relationship with Lyle began in 1996 after appearing on “Rally King Live.”

At the time, she expressed her belief that her brother had killed her parents as an act of self-defense. They alleged in court that they were abused and abused by their parents – and Lyle sent her a letter thanking her for her support.

O'Donnell claimed that “she and her brother were abused by her father,” and Lyle felt that “from her personal location that what she was saying was true.”

“At that point, I wasn't ventured near this with my family or my treatment,” she told The Times, adding that she initially didn't respond to Lyle.

It wasn't until 2022 that O'Donnell saw a documentary about the case and discussed her reconnection with Lyle.

Lyle's wife, Rebecca Snead, reached out to her to “see if she's interested in talking to him,” O'Donnell further revealed.

Their first phone conversation lasted for three hours and they have been nearby pen pals ever since. She also visited Lyle in prison.

The “Flinstone” star's confession comes just weeks after she moved to Ireland to escape President Donald Trump and confirmed that she would return to “when it's safe for all citizens to have equal rights.”
