Rosie O’Donnell told her 2.4 million TikTok followers in a video on Saturday that “American democracy” could be over by Thanksgiving, and continued to spread violent rhetoric, saying the country was “heading toward an authoritarian dictatorship” if former President Donald Trump wins the November election.
“The whole incident is very disturbing,” O’Donnell said. Said“After 100 days, people have said to me, actually my therapist has said to me, ‘It’s a long time from now until November.’ No, it’s not. We’re about to start school, before you know it, Halloween will be here, and then Thanksgiving holiday.”
“So we’ll know by the time of Thanksgiving holiday whether or not we still have a democracy in the United States,” O’Donnell continued. “That’s not a long time. It’s a long time to worry about it every day, that’s for sure.”

While O’Donnell laments the end of democracy, many in the public eye argue that this is already happening, citing the example of President Joe Biden, who was democratically elected by voters, being “kicked out” of his re-election campaign.
Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, speaking in Australia last month, noted that “Democratic primary voters” had recently cast their ballots for Biden.
“He was elected by his own party, people actually went to the polls and voted for him, and then all of a sudden, he was on the verge of losing out to the other candidates. [Trump]We need to force his job so that donors can put someone there who can beat him. [Trump]”Because that’s democracy,” Carlson joked.
“And for the first time, I began to think that maybe we’re defining the word ‘democracy’ a little bit differently,” Carlson added.
O’Donnell didn’t address these developments in a TikTok video on Saturday, instead reinforcing her argument that Trump is the problem.
“Look, you can worry and worry and worry and time will pass and what happens will happen,” she said. “It can drive you completely crazy. Trust me, I know.”
“But it’s really scary. They’re not kidding. Authoritarian dictatorship rights. America. We have no idea what’s going to happen if he wins. And it’s really not good,” O’Donnell added.
O’Donnell’s violent comments came after Trump survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13 – nearly a decade after he was vilified as a dictator and fascist by left-wing activists, mainstream media, Democrats and celebrities who have openly fantasized about his death.
O’Donnell last month floated the idea of assassinating the president, telling her TikTok followers that the president has the power to order an assassination and suggesting Biden has the right to kill people following a US Supreme Court immunity ruling.
Notably, Biden’s X account posted a statement on Sunday announcing that the 46th president was ending his reelection campaign, followed by a statement endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as his running mate.
It’s unclear whether Biden will quit the 2024 presidential campaign himself or be pushed out, but he has remained defiant, denying speculation he is withdrawing from the race despite a “growing Democratic rebellion,” according to the Associated Press.
This left many wondering what really happened behind closed doors, with the word “coup” trending on X.
