Rosie O'Donnell reveals she exited her talk show after earning millions.

Rosie O’Donnell recently reflected on how her career led her to unexpected wealth. The 64-year-old comedian shared that she decided to leave her popular daytime talk show, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, after discovering she had earned around $100 million from it. She realized it wasn’t worth sacrificing time with her kids.

“When I heard that, I thought, ‘Okay, I’m done,’” O’Donnell recounted. Others questioned her decision to leave, but she felt it was the right choice.

Reaching such a financial peak made her reconsider her life priorities. “I had enough money to take care of everyone in my life, including charities and strangers,” she noted. She wanted to be present for her children’s events—like their softball games and school plays.

O’Donnell hosted her show from 1996 to 2002, and it was a significant success. She mentioned that Warner Bros. attempted to keep the show running by offering an additional $100 million for two more years, but she declined. “Why would you say no?” they asked, but O’Donnell felt satisfied with what she had, believing that wanting more would indicate a problem.

She also struggles to understand why people prioritize wealth above all else. “I don’t get how millionaires think,” she admitted. Instead, she prioritizes what one can do for others.

Over the years, O’Donnell has been open about the difficulties of raising a family, particularly highlighting her daughter Chelsea’s extensive battles with addiction and legal issues. She recently described an emotional reunion with Chelsea, who is currently imprisoned, saying it marked progress in their strained relationship.

“It’s been 10 years since I last had a conversation with her that lasted more than 25 minutes,” O’Donnell revealed. During their recent visit, a tornado warning disrupted their time together, prompting strong emotions from her daughter.

“It was the first time I saw her empathetic emotions,” O’Donnell recounted with hope. She wrote a poem about the visit, capturing the security rules and her reflections on Chelsea’s demeanor, noting her daughter’s apparent energy and calmness.

O’Donnell has publicly expressed support for Chelsea throughout her struggles. After Chelsea faced prison time due to violations of her probation, O’Donnell shared a childhood photo of her daughter on social media, asking for prayers, saying, “I loved her before addiction took over her life, and I love her now as she faces a terrifying future.”

Chelsea’s legal troubles have escalated since 2024, when she was charged with multiple drug-related offenses. In the midst of these challenges, O’Donnell’s commitment to supporting her daughter remains strong. She expressed compassion for those battling addiction, wishing for her daughter to find relief amid the turmoil.
