Rosie O’Donnell Predicts ABC Might Scrap ‘The View’ Due to Pressure from Trump
On Wednesday, actress and comedian Rosie O’Donnell suggested that ABC may pull the plug on its talk show “The View” in an attempt to cater to President Donald Trump.
Reports indicate that ABC has begun reevaluating “the scenery” of the show, which has long been known for its blend of left and right perspectives. The Daily Beast highlighted the apparent tension between the show’s host and high-level executives, even mentioning Disney CEO Bob Iger’s involvement regarding the host’s wish to tone down political discourse.
In a TikTok video, O’Donnell stated, “I read today that ABC is ‘reviewing liberal bias’ on ‘The View.’ It’s a show where five women express their opinions—apparently, that’s seen as a threat now. They claim they haven’t canceled it yet, but this feels like the beginning of the end. They’re just trying to soften the blow.”
Sunny Hostin, a host on “The View,” cautioned that a cancellation, such as that of Stephen Colbert’s show, could lead to serious ramifications for constitutional freedoms.
O’Donnell continued, saying, “It seems like truth is considered dangerous now. When they say they want ‘balance,’ what they really mean is silencing anything that does not glorify their ‘orange Messiah’ and his glamorous image.” She went further, asserting, “This isn’t just about bias; it’s about forcing submission. It’s about eliminating programs that oppose Trumpism.” She described the situation as akin to living in a “dictatorship with good lighting,” feeling that the First Amendment’s significance is fading.
Instead of remaining silent, she urged people to “speak more boldly and take up space,” emphasizing the power of their voices as a collective truth. “The most dangerous sound in the world is truth,” she concluded.
Fox News Digital reached out to ABC for a comment regarding “The View.”
White House spokesman Taylor Rodgers responded, calling O’Donnell an “irrelevant loser” who complains about failing talk shows while hardworking Americans strive each day. He added that Trump appreciates her for helping him communicate with Irish audiences—a rather ironic twist.
Last month, speculation about potential cancellations ramped up following CBS’s decision to end Stephen Colbert’s show, which spurred thoughts that networks could be dialing back left-wing programming under the Trump administration’s scrutiny.
This drastic move came after an agreement was made between parent companies after a lawsuit regarding alleged “election interference” in a compilation related to Trump’s 2024 presidential run.
