Rosie O’Donnell Reflects on Feud with Donald Trump
Rosie O’Donnell recently shared her thoughts on the ongoing conflict between her and former President Donald Trump, shedding light on their two-decade-long feud. After moving back to the United States from Ireland post-2024 election, she remarked that their shared New York roots might contribute to the tension between them.
“There are other comedians who have made comments about him, but I’m from the same area,” she noted. People often tell her they “look alike,” but she humorously dismissed that as “probably the worst word for me.”
O’Donnell described herself as a “tough girl” during her younger years, recalling how she would confront Trump, saying stuff like, “Shut up! You’re not playing with us.” She suggested that perhaps he still struggles with those moments, likening it to a “PTSD reaction” related to childhood failures.
She theorized that she might remind Trump of those girls in his life who pointed out his shortcomings, which she believes could actually intimidate him.
In a recent podcast discussion, she echoed sentiments expressed by actress Sophia Bush, who described Trump as “crazy” for rejecting tough girls like O’Donnell. “He grew up with girls like me—tough, probably gay Irish girls who didn’t take favors from pretentious rich kids,” O’Donnell added.
Many comments surfaced on social media in response to her views. One user remarked that Trump is “living rent-free in her head,” while others accused her of being obsessed and acting like a victim. Yet, there were also supporters who applauded her for standing her ground, with one adding, “Rosie has such a strong spine and will never turn back.”
Looking back, it’s interesting to note that this feud began in 2006 when O’Donnell publicly criticized Trump’s handling of a Miss USA pageant winner embroiled in scandal. Trump retaliated by labeling her a “real loser” and “an out-of-control woman.” Over the years, O’Donnell has admitted to struggling with her fixation on Trump, even trying to refrain from posting about him on social media—though her attempts have often proven short-lived.
While some advise her to move on, O’Donnell continues to express her feelings openly, demonstrating that this feud shows no signs of resolution anytime soon.
