Rosie O’Donnell Expresses Frustration Over Donald Trump

Rosie O’Donnell has voiced her concerns regarding the ongoing fixation on President Donald Trump. The 63-year-old actress, in a recent discussion with friends and family, revealed in an article about her move to Ireland after Trump’s re-election last November that she simply “can’t stand” talking about him.

O’Donnell shared with the media that she had made a promise to her therapist shortly before Thanksgiving to avoid posting anything related to Trump for two days. However, she broke that resolution within hours.

Her long-time friend, Jennifer Kopetic, reportedly felt “frustrated” after O’Donnell advised her to “disconnect” from the whole situation during a visit. Following that, she pledged to her 1.2 million Instagram followers to attempt a longer break from discussing Trump but struggled to keep that commitment as well.

O’Donnell has mentioned that her emotional turmoil began right after Trump’s election. “I almost cried when he won,” she expressed back in March during an Irish television appearance, highlighting her anxiety over a potential second term.

Her worries are deeply personal. As a lesbian mother of five, with her youngest child being a non-binary 12-year-old diagnosed with autism, O’Donnell fears the hostility toward LGBTQ individuals during the Trump administration and the potential loss of support for special education programs.

Throughout Trump’s first term, she channeled her frustrations into creating more than 200 digital portraits of him on her iPad, branding him with titles like “stupid,” “loser,” and “liar.” This intense focus on Trump eventually led her to feel that leaving the U.S. was her only option.

Her brother, Eddie, who is assisting her with the Irish citizenship application, remarked that relocating was “honestly the best decision she ever made.”

O’Donnell has also noted that the political stress has affected her family, particularly her daughter. She recounted a moment when her daughter shouted, “Fuck you, fuck Trump,” during a tense discussion about their situation.

While being candid about the challenges of shielding her daughter from political chaos, O’Donnell reflected on her long battle with political commentary. “I’ve done it for 22 years. I don’t need to do it anymore,” she stated, hinting at a desire to step back from such high-profile engagements.

In response to O’Donnell’s recent remarks, a White House spokesperson indicated, “Rosie O’Donnell is clearly suffering from severe symptoms of Trump Derangement Syndrome, and her decision to move abroad is a good thing for the country as a whole.”

O’Donnell’s move to Ireland was also motivated by Trump’s alleged threat to revoke her U.S. citizenship, prompting her to seek Irish citizenship in October, citing her ancestral ties and her wish to distance herself from American political discourse.
