WWE Star Roxanne Perez Aims for Championship Gold
LAS VEGAS – WWE’s Roxanne Perez stands out as the only member of The Judgment Day faction yet to secure a championship, but that situation may shift soon.
Perez’s quest for the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship kicks off this Friday during a fatal four-way match at Night 1 of Triplemania 34 in Las Vegas, where she’ll compete against La Hiedra, Faby Apache, and Nattie. The winner will earn a title shot at the upcoming Worlds Collide event.
Typically, The Judgment Day supports each other during “Monday Night Raw.” Perez and Raquel Rodriguez often show up for Liv Morgan’s matches, and vice versa. However, when Perez spoke to OutKick Dropkick prior to her contender match, it seemed that Morgan and Rodriguez were absent.
“I think they know that I got this. I came here to seize an opportunity for myself,” Perez explained. “Being around champions, I realized there aren’t any current opportunities for a title on the main roster since my girls are doing great. So, I thought, ‘The Prodigy’ doesn’t stay complacent. I came to AAA to claim a championship of my own.”
This is actually Perez’s first time participating in Triplemania, the flagship event for AAA.
She shared that she originally got the chance to train with AAA at age 16, but her parents were not very supportive of the idea. Now, returning and seizing this chance feels like a significant moment in her career.
“I’m thrilled to be here. So, a bit of backstory: I’ve trained to be a WWE superstar since I was 13, and at 16, I had the invitation to train at AAA. It was a dream of mine, but my parents weren’t fully on board back then,” she said.
“Now that AAA is linked with WWE, I’m seizing my moment without asking for anyone’s permission. It’s an honor to represent my culture. I’m both Mexican and Puerto Rican, so being a main roster WWE superstar while representing that is incredibly exciting.”
Perez knows that this opportunity is significant, but she isn’t worried about the potential challenge of earning a title shot at Worlds Collide.
“It’s a big task! I believe I’m ready to take this chance. I’m determined to go straight to Worlds Collide and become the Reina de Reinas champion. That said, I’m not underestimating any of the women in this match,” she remarked. “La Hiedra has a deep understanding of AAA. Natalya is a WWE legend and a trailblazer; she fought hard for opportunities for women like us. I respect her immensely. And then, of course, Faby Apache is a legendary name in Lucha Libre.”
“I have a lot on my plate, but it’s nothing that ‘The Prodigy’ can’t handle. Over the past 10 years, I’ve faced plenty of challenges in wrestling. If anyone thinks I’ll let this opportunity pass, they’re mistaken. I finally have my chance, and I won’t let it slip away.”
Triplemania 34 Night 1 starts at 10 p.m. ET at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, with Night 2 scheduled for Sunday at Arena CDMX in Mexico City. You can catch both events live on YouTube.
